On a one-day trip you can see a lot of Læsø, and we outline some suggestions in the following. However, this shouldn't be misunderstood; on Læsø there's enough to see to fill an entire holiday.
|
Round-trip of Læsø by bus
The bus waits at Vesterø Havn, and you can look forward to an entertaining trip in which the bus driver will tell you everything there is to know about Læsø. En route you'll see Læsø Saltsyderi, where the salt-boiler describes its exciting history. You'll also visit Museumsgården and the church of Vesterø Kirke. In Byrum there'll be a short break where you can buy something to eat or drink. The tour ends at the harbour of Vesterø Havn.
Cycle ride with lunch
In this case you are free to plan the day yourself and you can explore Læsø at your own pace. We recommend a route of 36 km which takes in Saltsyderiet, Museumsgården and a number of interesting artists. You can easily shorten or lengthen the trip. However, you have to cycle at least to Byrum (7 km) to get something to eat. Here you can have a rest and a plate of "smørrebrød" (Danish open sandwiches) at Restaurant Bakken in Byrum.

Seal safari with the boat Seadog Sail from Vesterø Havn to the stone reef of Borfeld, which lies northwest of Læsø. Here you'll see seals on the rocks. Often there'll be more than 40 seals lying here sunbathing. The sailing trip on Seadog lasts 1 hour 45 minutes. The trip only takes place in good weather.
Wildlife tour with Rønnerbussen
Join us in an unforgettable 4-hours family wildlife tour with a nature guide through the preserved areas of “Rønnerne” to the salty weel, the girl-stone and the orchids. Watch the tiny meat-eating plants, the yellow meadow ants, the special “hindebæger”-plant (Limonium vulgaris) and follow us through the Wadden Sea to the island “Hornfiskrøn” where you can relax. On the way home we can stop at the Læsø Saltworks, a famous old-fashioned saltern Dogs are not allowed on “Rønnerne”

TipsWhen you visit Læsø on a 1-day trip, it's a good idea to take your swimming costume with you. You'll often have a little extra time at Vesterø, and there's a lovely sandy beach stretching south of the harbour at Vesterø Havn.
